My name is Jeff Haynes. I’m a freelance photographer based in Chicago with over 35 years of experience. My award-winning photographs have been featured in worldwide and national publications like Sports Illustrated, Time, Paris Match, People, The New Yorker, ESPN, and every major newspaper in the World.
Since graduating from Ohio University with a degree in Visual Communications I have established myself as a premier sports photographer and photo journalist. I also specializes in breaking news events, having covered the Columbine shooting in Colorado, natural disasters from tornados to hurricanes, national political campaigns and conventions, and the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center in New York.
I have worked in the wire service industry for all the major companies; AP, UPI, Getty, and Agence France Presse as either a freelance photographer or a staff employee. I have worked on assignments for Sports Illustrated, The New York Times, Sporting News, NBA, USGA, and many other National and International publications. Since leaving the daily wire service work in 2008 I have worked on commercial, editorial, and advertising projects for Converse, Adidas, Coke, Power Aid, General Motors, and many more.
Since covering my first major sporting assignment at the Kentucky Derby, I have covered nearly every sporting event worldwide. I have covered many of the Olympic games as either a photographer or editor, The World Series, US Open Tennis, Super Bowls, Indianapolis 500, and the NBA Finals. I have photographed championship boxing matches, 70 Major worldwide golf tournaments, and the World Cup skiing championship. Along with my sports coverage, I has covered the Oscars, Grammys, Golden Globes, and Emmys. I have won numerous awards throughout my career.
